New WWE Raw Writer Kenice Mobley Knew Nothing About WWE When She Was Hired, Is Excited To Learn

One of the newest WWE writers recently admitted that the company was completely fine with her knowing nothing about WWE before hiring her but she's excited to start learning about the product.

Kenice Mobley, who has been a writer for The Tonight Show and has had a career as a stand-up comedian, was recently hired as a writer by WWE. Appearing on the Asian Not Asian podcast, prior to starting the job, she candidly speaks about knowing next to nothing about professional wrestling but states that the sports entertainment juggernaut hired her because of her background in film production and comedy writing.

“Yes, I have just been hired by WWE," Mobley started. “Yes [it’s surprising WWE hired her]. Yes, also a surprise for me, they did not require me to know anything about wrestling, but I do have a background in film production and comedy writing and they’re like, ‘Perfect. Come on in.’”

In addition, Mobley said that she took a year of Krav Maga and joked that she wouldn't mind getting in the ring herself. Later, she admitted that she had never watched wrestling as a kid and laughed when she was shown Scotty 2 Hotty.

“So I've got to write the things in between the wrestling matches. So, like when they're walking to and from the ring, some of the commentary that happens... We come up with catchphrases, hand signals, or whatever. I really don't know about it. Truly, I have not started yet. So, I don't know enough about it and if they hear this, I'm really hoping they don't revoke my offer but I truly know next to nothing about it.”

Continuing on, Mobley didn't make it known that she was on the Monday Night Raw riding team and she is aware of the WWE Champion, even if she doesn't entirely know what his name is yet.

“So I am on the Monday Night Raw team,” Mobley said. “There’s Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown and the people I know that are on it are Bobby -- I mean, his name is either Bobby Ashley or Bobby Lashley and I really should know that. He’s like this giant black guy and he and the people who are part of his crew, I know that they call, or at least as of last year, they called themselves The Hurt Business. They wear suits and they’re like, ‘We’re cool.’ Sometimes he's fighting and just like skivvies or whatever. But sometimes he's like, ‘Oh, we're going to break out into a fight during this conversation.’ But like, yeah, he's wearing a full-on suit and like, they're like throwing each other around and I really want to know their tailor, if they're able to do all that movement and their suits still look very tight.”

Most recently she tweeted that she was involved in helping a professional wrestling show.

On the most recent Monday Night Raw, Bobby Lashley made history by successfully competing in a second Hell in a Cell match after competing in the match against Drew McIntyre at the Hell in a Cell Pay-per-view on Sunday. Learn more here.
