Damian Priest gets his first taste of main roster gold.
Damian Priest captured the WWE United States Championship at SummerSlam, defeating Sheamus in the third bout of the night.
The hard-hitting affair ended when Priest was able to rip the protective mask off of Sheamus, causing the Celtic Warrior to panic for a moment. Priest followed up with a spin kick to the face and the Reckoning, which was enough to put Sheamus away.

This marks the first reign with the WWE United States Championship for Priest and his first championship win on the main roster. He is a former NXT North American Champion. Sheamus won the US Title at night two of WrestleMania 37 when he defeated Riddle. He made one successful title defense.
