Nick Aldis is excited about his looming free agency.
Aldis has been the face of the NWA for the last few years; he has been working for the promotion since 2017. But on November 6, he announced that he gave his notice to the company. As a result, he will become a free agent when his contract expires on January 1, 2023.
Speaking with Dr. Chris Featherstone on UnSKripted, one viewer asked Aldis what's next for him. He stated that he's looking forward to exploring free agency. He stated that he wants to be free of a contract and a commitment to a specific brand.
“Free agency. That’s it, dude. I know it’s been suggested that there must be something else. Truthfully, I want to explore free agency. I just want to be free of a contract and a certain brand commitment, a sort of branding of any kind for a minute and just see what comes next," Aldis said.
Aldis then briefly brought up his departure from NWA and noted that it was time to move on. In a general sense, he expressed his confidence that he can deliver wherever and contribute at a high level, but he needs to feel passionate about what he's doing.
“It was just time to move on, that’s all. I have businesses. I have Legacy Sports Nutrition and we have some other businesses that were working on. As far as wrestling, at this point, I feel like I can deliver wherever. I just love the business, and I feel like I can contribute to a pretty high level. But at the same time, if I’m gonna spend time away from my son, and I’m gonna take bumps, I gotta be feeling it. It’s gotta be something that I’m passionate about. I’ve gotta be feeling it. I’ve gotta feel like it’s going somewhere," Aldis said.
