Nikki Bella made a surprise return at Summerslam this past Sunday. Appearing for WWE for the first time since she had neck surgery late last year, she was the mystery partner with Natalya and Alexa Bliss for their six-woman tag match against Becky Lynch, Naomi and Carmella.
Monday, posting on her Instagram account, Bella shared the circumstances of her surprise return, posting a picture of her from the tour bus where she waited until it was time for the match.
She wrote as follows:
"This is me while I waited on a bus to surprise everyone, even my partners & opponents last night at SummerSlam. 7 months ago when I had surgery I hoped for that day to come but was told it wouldn't. I prayed and trained so hard that it would. I just knew that I couldn't have already had my ending in the ring. I just wouldn't accept it. The@wwe universe keeps me alive. You give me energy that no one else can give me. You challenge me. You make me want to be better. It's crazy what you do to me. And the welcome Brooklyn gave me made me hold in tears. I was just blown away. I'm excited to make magic happen at #smackdown I'm excited to be back! Im excited to show everyone that the impossible is truly possible! My heart and passion is in that ring... Always will be! Love you all!"
Before her injury, Nikki Bella had the longest reign ever as Divas Champion in WWE, a title that since has been renamed as the WWE Women's Championship. Nikki makes her debut on Smackdown tonight, and with Smackdown getting its own women's title soon, she could be in the contender mix there.
