So far, there is no concern regarding the Omicron variant of COVID-19 affecting the card for New Japan Pro-Wrestling Wrestle Kingdom 16.
COVID-19 has yet another variant that is causing concerns around the globe and recently, the United States Embassy announced that, effective November 30, 2021, the Japanese government has announced strengthened quarantine measures and suspended the entry of foreign nationals.
Furthermore, it is noted that travelers who are permitted to enter Japan will be required to quarantine at home, a private residence, or in a hotel for 14 days subject to approval by the government of Japan. Also, it was stated that the total number of travelers authorized to enter Japan will decrease from 5,000 to 3,000 starting on December 1, 2021.
One of the major main events for the 3-night event is Will Ospreay challenging for the world championship on Night 2. In an interview with Tokyo Sports, NJPW president Takami Ohbari stated that the new travel restrictions implemented in Japan due to the Omicron variant will not apply to the talent that already has work visas.
Will Ospreay reacted to this news in a tweet where he said that not Shingo Takagi, Okada, nor COVID could stop him.
