A major announcement has been made in regards to NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 16.
On November 19, a press conference was held by NJPW President Takami Ohbari and Pro Wrestling NOAH's parent company (CyberFight) director Akihiro Takeda.
Ohbari began by saying that Wrestle Kingdom 16 will consist of three events; January 4 and 5 in the Tokyo Dome, and the third event on January 8 at the Yokohama Arena. He describes the latter as "not a regular NJPW event," and the first of many 'dream events' that he promised at the promotion's 50th Anniversary press conference.
It was noted that a portion of the proceeds from the Yokohama Arena event will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross.
The Yokohama Arena event will be aired live and in English on Abema PPV and will be available for fans to purchase starting tomorrow. The full event will also be available on New Japan World one week after the initial presentation.
Ohbari concluded by saying, "The match card is yet to be announced. NJPW and NOAH wrestlers have their own histories and backgrounds. It's up to them whether they want to face off, or even join together."
Fightful will continue to provide any updates on the event as they become available.
