Will Ospreay has outlasted the field of 32.

On the final night of the New Japan Cup 2021, Will Ospreay defeated Shingo Takagi in the finals to win the tournament. Ospreay was able to score the win with the Storm Breaker. Ospreay pulled out all the stops in the match, including a 450 splash to the outside and through a table.

This marks the first time Ospreay has won the New Japan Cup in his career. With this victory, Ospreay will face Kota Ibushi in the first-ever IWGP World Heavyweight Championship bout. That match will take place on April 4 at Ryogoku Sumo Hall at Sakura Genesis 2021.

After the match, Ospreay told Ibushi that he needs the IWGP World Heavyweight Title saying he loves having the title more than anything. To prove how much he loved the title, he hit a cutter on his girlfriend, Bea Priestley.

Ospreay bested Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Zack Sabre Jr, SANADA, and David Finlay in his run to the finals before taking out Shingo to win the tournament.
