Finn Balor will find out next week who he will face at NXT TakeOver.
William Regal revealed on tonight's episode of NXT that there will be a first-ever gauntlet eliminator match in which the winner will be face Balor for the NXT Championship at TakeOver. The gauntlet match will take place on the September 23 episode of NXT.
The rules for the match are as follows:
- Two men will start in the ring
- Every 4 minutes, another competitor will enter
- The only way to be eliminated is via pinfall or submission
- The last man standing will be named the No. 1 contender for the NXT Championship and will go on to face Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver

It was also revealed that there will be a battle royal on September 23 and the winner of that match will be the No. 1 contender to Io Shirai’s title and challenge for the belt at NXT TakeOver on October 4. Among the women that were featured in a graphic advertising the match are Rhea Ripley, Shotzi Blackheart, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, Kacy Catanzaro and more.
Meanwhile, Shirai has been busy inside the ring and even competed in the opening match of tonight’s NXT, defeating Blackheart. Shirai’s last title defense was at TakeOver XXX, defeating Kai.

Also teased for next week, but not yet made official, is a match between Tommaso Ciampa and Jake Atlas. Ciampa defeated Atlas in August, but Ciampa savagely attacked Atlas, with Atlas being taken out on a stretcher. Atlas returned tonight and challenged Ciampa to a match.
