Oba Femi recalls speaking to The Rock.
Oba Femi has become a breakout star in NXT. He had a successful reign as the NXT North American Champion, and he won the NXT Championship at NXT New Year's Evil. The buzzworthy show featured an appearance from The Rock, and Femi has revealed that he got a chance to speak to the former world champion when he was in town.
Speaking with Cameron Hawkins for Uncrowned, Oba Femi discussed his rise in NXT. He noted that he briefly spoke with The Rock backstage at NXT New Year's Evil, and The Rock told him that he couldn't wait to see him on the main roster.
"I've come around at a very opportune time when big-man wrestling is not the main thing. It's become like a niche, almost a lost art because everyone's doing Canadian Destroyers and everyone's high flying and everyone's spring-boarding, trying to pop the crowd. ... It's refreshing that the fans get to see an Oba Femi who comes in and stays on the ground and is physical and fires up and is riled up. I think people miss that...[The Rock] said, ‘Good job, great match. Can't wait to see you on the main roster,’” Femi said.
Femi previously sent a warning to "Uncle Dwayne" for taking the main event spot from him at NXT New Year's Evil. Check out his comments here.
