Pat McAfee points out that his crew have been on NXT before.
Pat McAfee and the crew from The Pat McAfee Show (Ty Schmit, Boston Connor, AJ Hawk, and Darius Butler) will be in WWE 2K24, as they will be available as DLC. The DLC pack, which was delayed to July 31st, has been the source of some controversy.
NXT's Karmen Petrovic previously responded to a clip from The Pat McAfee Show where Ty Schmit said that fans wanted "some of these other losers that no one's ever heard of from NXT" to be in the game. Petrovic noted that fans wanted to play with wrestlers in a wrestling game.

Speaking on the July 30th episode of The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee hyped up how Darius Butler was going to be in a WWE game. Butler noted that he had posted a clip of the group's previous appearance on NXT on social media to show that they had been on the show.
"Everything about it is hilarious. There was a promo on Monday Night Raw for this last night, which is hysterical to think about. We are incredibly lucky, thankful, and pumped, and if you’re punting through people, we would like to see a clip and post it immediately," McAfee said.
McAfee then looked back on the group appearing on NXT in the early days of his time on the brand. He stated that people forget that the crew had been part of his NXT run. McAfee also noted that there were plenty of NXT legends on the WWE roster, including him.
"People forget that you were guys were part of an NXT run that would eventually lead to a main event of a pay-per-view, WarGames. Now, obviously, that wasn’t the direct run. That was from the previous run. But nonetheless, it was an honor to be considered an NXT legend. That’s what Michael Cole called me last night, and I was talking to Bobby Roode, he’s also an NXT legend. If you look on the roster of Monday Night Raw, there’s a lot of other NXT legends. It’s an honor to go through NXT, and if you get up there, just like Darius, just AJ, you may end up in WWE 2K24," McAfee said.
McAfee went on to note that he hadn’t seen the clips of the gameplay footage until they were played during an advertisement on the July 29th episode of WWE Raw. He also took to social media to reiterate that the crew had been part of NXT.
