Burchill has wrestled sporadically since leaving WWE in 2010, competing at various independent events over the years.

While speaking to the Under The Ring podcast for a new interview, Burchill said that he returned to the ring because he wanted to make a different legacy for himself in the world of wrestling, one that he could be proud of.

“Well, I’m a father of four, so my kids obviously come into it and you’ve got to think about anytime that you’re getting back into something, you’ve got to think about how it’s going to impact all of that. What it came down to was, I’ve taken really good care of myself, I’m healthy and I’m fit and everything. I kind of looked at my time in WWE, I didn’t look back with a lot of — I guess pride is the wrong word, but I felt like if I had the opportunity to maybe make a different legacy for myself in wrestling, something I can look back on and be even more proud of, I should probably take it. So, I kind of toyed with the idea of maybe dipping my toe back in and see how it felt, and everything felt great, and it just kinda went from there.”

Burchill then recalled wrestling at an independent event back in September, which led to the opportunity with the NWA.

NWA's Hard Times pay-per-view in March 2024 will take place in Alabama. Fans can learn more here.
