Regardless of who he will stand across the ring from at WWE Survivor Series, Roman Reigns will be prepared, says Paul Heyman.
Immediately after the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, the build to the 2020 Survivor Series event began. Since that time, Roman Reigns has been advertised to go one-on-one with Randy Orton in a battle of champions at the inter-promotional event.
Despite this match being built up for nearly a month, Randy and Roman have not interacted on WWE television nor have they referenced each other in promos. Roman has, however, interacted with Drew McIntyre. McIntyre is the former WWE Champion and has the opportunity to wrestle the title away from Randy Orton on the November 16 episode of Monday Night Raw.
Drew McIntyre invaded the Friday, November 13, 2020 episode of WWE Smackdown and all but guaranteed to face Roman Reigns at Survivor Series, even defeating Roman’s cousin, Jey Uso, in the main event of the episode.
Speaking on the episode of WWE Talking Smack that followed Drew McIntyre's SmackDown invasion, Paul Heyman, the special counsel to Roman Reigns, would say that Roman will be prepared to score a victory on November 22 regardless of who the WWE Champion is at Survivor Series. Paul Heyman would go so far as to say that no matter who walks into Survivor Series with the WWE Championship, they will enter and leave as the second most important champion in WWE today.
“Roman Reigns is ready for Drew McIntyre, should Drew McIntyre unseat Randy Orton to be the WWE Champion. Roman Reigns is ready for Randy Orton, should Randy Orton successfully defend the title this Monday on Raw against Drew McIntyre,” Heyman began. “Whomever walks into Survivor Series as the second most important champion in WWE, will remain the second most important champion in WWE when they step into the ring in the main event at Survivor Series against the single biggest superstar in the entire industry today, Roman Reigns.”
Kayla Braxton continued to push the issue and Paul Heyman did not waver.
“Roman Reigns always cares. He's a family man. He cares about providing for his family, both immediate and all of the cousins, and the uncles, and the nieces, and the aunts involved. Roman Reigns is focused on fighting either Randy Orton or fighting Drew McIntyre. He is prepared for the variable that this Monday Night Raw can present to him. Then, we will have six days to strategize and six days to prepare for whomever will fall at the feet of ‘The Tribal Chief,’ the head of the table, the undisputed Universal Heavyweight Champion, Roman Reigns."
Regardless of who emerges from Monday Night Raw with the WWE Championship, this will not be the first time Roman Reigns is facing either man in a major singles match on a big four WWE pay-per-view. Roman defeated Randy Orton at SummerSlam in 2014 and defeated Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania in 2019.
Fightful will have live coverage of this Monday's Raw beginning at 8 p.m. eastern.
