Roxanne Perez swam when she was thrown into the deep end.
Perez made her debut on WWE Level Up in April 2022, and she debuted on WWE NXT television days later. She has remained on television ever since, and she eventually became one of the brand's top stars. Perez won the NXT Women's Championship twice, and after competing in the 2024 Women's Royal Rumble, she has moved to WWE Raw, as she qualified for the Women's Elimination Chamber.
During a virtual media event ahead of WWE Elimination Chamber, Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp asked Roxanne Perez about wrestling on TV for her entire time with WWE. She looked back on how she got time cut from her first match, and Shawn Michaels told her it was a sink-or-swim situation.
"My very first match in WWE, I wrestled Jacy Jayne, and we got time cut in that match. It was my debut for NXT and I remember Shawn Michaels telling me, ‘We’re throwing you in the deep end, you can either sink or swim.’ I think I swam and swam pretty well. Ever since then, I think that I realized that I feel comfortable and I can’t wait to do this for the rest of my life," Perez said.
