Paul Wight (formerly Big Show in WWE), had a successful run in WWE, winning multiple World Titles during his 20+ years in the company.
But he believes he could have done more if he started with WWE and not WCW.
"I wasn't theirs," said Wight on Talk Is Jericho when discussing his frustrations with WWE.
Wight joined WWE in 1999 after a run in WCW that saw him make an immediate impact as a challenger to Hulk Hogan. Wight famously won the WCW World Heavyweight Title from Hogan at Halloween Havoc 1995. WWE quickly took notice.
"Jim Ross called me after Halloween Havoc and offered me double what WCW was paying if I would leave. Me, not knowing any better, said, 'No, I signed a contract here. When it expires, I'll be happy to talk to you.' I tried really hard to come to WWE first, but I wasn't trained," said Wight.
Wight left WWE earlier this year, choosing to join AEW to serve as a commentator for AEW Dark: Elevation.
Elsewhere during the interview, Wight expressed his creative frustrations with WWE during his time with the company. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
