Randy Orton bonds with Sexyy Red over their St. Louis roots.
Randy Orton appeared on the October 8 episode of WWE NXT and defeated Je’Von Evans in the main event.
In an NXT Exclusive, Randy Orton was asked to comment on his experience at NXT.
“We sold out, we’re in St. Louis, I’m very happy to be here, especially for a sold-out NXT show, and I got to work with an incredible talent tonight, only 20 years old. You know him, he’s bouncy, Je’Von Evans. Dude, I’m very excited to see where he goes in the future. He’s gonna be around for as long as he wants to be," Orton said.
Orton was then asked whether he had any advice for Evans. He encouraged Evans to keep doing what he was doing. Orton also highlighted how Evans was humble and respectful. He stated that he gave that respect back to him.
“We have a lot in common, but there’s a lot of differences, let’s just say. I think that he needs to keep doing what he’s doing. But what I noticed first and foremost after meeting him for the first time today, he’s incredibly humble, he has nothing but respect for the business and the guys like me, the old fuddy-duddies that have been here for over 20 years, and you know what, that means a lot to me. That respect for our industry, it goes a long way, so that respect, I give to him right back tenfold," Orton said.
St. Louis native Sexyy Red, who also appeared on the show, walked up, and Orton gave her a hug. He then asked her about her appearance on the show. She noted that she was feeling good, as she was back in her hometown.
Sexyy Red: Hi Randy. What’s up, O.G.? It’s the O.G.
Randy Orton: I’m the O.G.? I feel like you’re the O.G. [Gets handed the microphone] I can do the interview. This could get interesting. So, Sexyy Red, tell us how you’re feeling today.
SR: I’m feeling good. We back in our hometown, we got our families with us. How’re you feeling?
RO: I’m feeling good. How’d it feel out there in front of [the crowd]? You like that intimate feel, or do you like a bigger venue?
SR: I like the intimate feel, but it makes me more nervous because everybody, you can really see their faces.
Orton then noted that he still gets nervous, and she said she was nervous too. He said that a true performer always gets nervous, but they learn how to turn their nerves into fuel for their performance. He said that Sexyy Red was out there killing it. Orton went on to ask Red for a message to the fans.
RO: Listen, Sexyy, before I let you go, is there anything you’d like to say to your fans here in St. Louis?
SR: I want to say I love y’all, thank you for supporting us, me and Randy.
RO: That’s right, two St. Louis O.G.’s right here.
He then gave Sexyy Red a fist bump, and they discussed their St. Louis origins.
