The first AEW on TNT quarterly special is in the works.
According to Andrew Zarian of Mat Men Podcast, AEW is planning to hold a special event on TNT on Saturday, January 8.
Zarian reports that the possible name for the event is "Battle of the Belts." AEW filed to trademark "Battle of the Belts" in January.
“Battle of the Belts” was used as an event name in the mid-1980s by the National Wrestling Alliance, specifically the Florida territory which was operated by Eddie Graham. The events were shown live in syndication, and all three featured Ric Flair defending the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
AEW Dynamite is set to move to TBS on January 5. As part of the deal, AEW announced quarterly specials that will air on TNT.
AEW has not made an official announcement regarding the first quarterly special. Fightful will update fans when more information is known.
Fightful provides live coverage of AEW Dynamite every Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET and live coverage of AEW Rampage every Friday at 10 p.m. ET.
