It seems it was not a random child who became champion at WrestleMania 34.
PWInsider has reported the young man Braun Strowman picked as his tag team partner was son of WWE Referee John Cone. Strowman won the tag team battle royal to become number one contender but had no partner. WWE officials and Raw General Manager Kurt Angle said Strowman needed a partner to compete at WrestleMania 34.
The child named Nicholas was picked by Strowman immediately before the match. Strowman actually tagged him in for a moment but Nicholas tag back out before Strowman pinned Cesaro to become Raw Tag Team Champion.
In a backstage interview, Strowman revealed he had no plan going into the night but he had an epiphany in the woods that he should pick a fan to be his partner.
Other partners for Strowman were rumored leading into the WrestleMania including James Ellsworth, Big Show, and Elias.
