John Cena's next movie role may soon have him portraying historic video game character Duke Nukem.
The Hollywood Reporter reported this evening that Cena is currently in negotiations to star in a big screen adaption of Duke Nukem, based on the popular video game series of the 1990s that had the titular character destroy aliens and quip one liners.
Platinum Dunes, a production company ran by Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, will produce the movie . No director is on board at this point, and they are currently looking for a writer that will develop a script. The report says that the aim of the movie is for it to be a star vehicle for John Cena, who has largely stuck to being a part-time performer in the WWE since last year to focus on other opportunities.
Cena has stared in other Paramount movies as of late, appearing in the movie Daddy's Home and its sequel, and will also be a part of the upcoming Bumblebee film from the Transformers franchise. He will also host the Kids Choice Awards later this year.
