Catanzaro departs WWE.
Casey Michael of Squared Circle Sirens reports that Kacy Catanzaro handed in her notice and has left WWE. Catanzaro reportedly suffered a back injury and decided to stop wrestling.
Catanzaro was the first woman to qualify for the finals of American Ninja Warrior and the first woman to complete a City Finals course. She received a WWE tryout in January 2017 and signed a deal with the company in August 2017. She competed in the 2018 Mae Young Classic, losing to Rhea Ripley in the second round of the tournament. She was also a surprise competitor in the 2019 Women's Royal Rumble. She had been regularly featured at NXT live events and had made multiple appearances on NXT television.
The 29-year-old last wrestled on July 19 at an NXT live event in Tampa, Florida. She teamed with Lacey Lane to defeat Marina Shafir & Taynara Conti. She appeared on the July 24 episode of NXT (taped on June 13), losing to Io Shirai by DQ.
There are no references to WWE or NXT on her Twitter account, though that has always been the case.
