Report: NXT To Start On USA Network On September 18

An update on NXT moving to USA Network.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that NXT will start on USA Network on Sept. 18. The show will begin at 8 p.m. ET every Wednesday and run for two hours. It is unknown if the show will be live every week or if the brand will travel. The first episode is set to be held at Full Sail University. The official announcement will reportedly be made during tonight's episode of WWE Raw.

Meltzer reports that "it was imperative on the WWE side to get a jump on AEW." The show will air head-to-head against AEW, which debuts on TNT on Oct. 2.

Initial reports pegged NXT moving to Fox Sports 1 at some point in the fall but plans quickly changed with WWE pitching Universal on the idea that NXT should move to USA. FS1's contractual obligation to Big East basketball reportedly complicated NXT potentially moving to the network

USA aired a special episode of NXT on December 13, 2017 as part of WWE Week. The episode drew 841,000 viewers.
