A former IMPACT producer is reportedly trying out for WWE.
According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, Petey Williams is backstage at WWE SmackDown and is trying out to become a producer for the company.
Fightful has confirmed the report and notes that the tryout has been in the works for weeks.
Williams previously served as a producer for IMPACT Wrestling. He reportedly worked as a producer for IMPACT Bound For Glory and the subsequent television tapings in Las Vegas. He was also in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Battle Royal at Bound For Glory and has remained active with the company in an in-ring role on television.
Williams spent the majority of his career in TNA/IMPACT and is most famous for his use of the Canadian Destroyer. He is a former two-time X-Division Champion.
In other WWE producer news, the company reportedly hired Jimmy Yang to serve as a producer with Yang beginning on Raw.
Fightful will have live coverage of WWE SmackDown beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Friday.
