The latest on Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Cormier.
ESPN's Ariel Helwani reports that UFC is currently planning for Brock Lesnar to return to the Octagon in August against Daniel Cormier. The fight, should it happen, would be for the UFC Heavyweight Title.
A fight between Cormier and Lesnar has been rumored ever since UFC 226 in July 2018. On that night, Cormier defeated Stipe Miocic in the first-round to become the new Heavyweight Champion. Following the bout, Lesnar entered the Octagon and got into an altercation with Cormier, highlighted by The Beast shoving the Champ Champ. You can view their altercation in the video above.
A fight between the two was in the works for February or March of this year, but never materialized. Cormier stated that he wanted to fight Lesnar before his 40th birthday (March 20) and then retire. Since the fight was never put together, Cormier has pushed back his retirement until he is able to step into the cage with Lesnar.
Lesnar last fought at UFC 200 in July 2016. He defeated Mark Hunt at the event, but the result was later changed to a no contest after Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene. He is currently under contract to WWE -- though WWE and UFC worked out a deal for Lesnar to fight at UFC 200 -- and is set to defend his Universal Title this Sunday at WrestleMania 35 against Seth Rollins.
