More behind the scenes details emerge surrounding Roman Reigns' leukemia announcement.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Vince McMahon found out about the disease on Oct. 18. Reigns was pulled from the weekend's live events and there were conflicting reports regarding his immediate status.
Meltzer reports that Triple H, Kevin Dunn, Mark Carrano and writers Dave Kapoor and Ed Koskey were the others who knew about the content of Reigns' promo. Members of the WWE creative team, along with Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Michael Cole were told that Reigns would be relinquishing the Universal Title, but were not given a reason why. Reigns reportedly told Rollins and Ambrose join him at the top of the stage following the promo. As reported by Fightful, many superstars did not know of the announcement until he was on-screen.
The report goes on to say that Reigns, at his request, was kept in a bus all day before the show. PWInsider reported the day of the show that Reigns was seen working out in the ring.
McMahon was not at television on Monday. As reported by Fightful's own Sean Ross Sapp, Vince not being at tapings nowadays is not uncommon.
