AEW Dynamite 5/5/21 Results: Blood and Guts Inner Circle vs. The Pinnacle, plus much more

Dustin Rhodes: I'd Love For Tony Khan To Create A Program Similar To WWE ID

AEW commentator Jim Ross begins the show by saying, “It’s Wednesday Night, and you know what that means.” Ross then welcomes the viewer to AEW Dynamite Blood and Guts and says that they are coming to us “from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida; the Home of the Jags.” Ross and his colleagues Excalibur and Tony Schiavone begin going over tonight’s card.

Michael Nakazawa and Kenny Omega vs. Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley

Before the match begins, Don Callis is in the ring and announces that Kenny Omega would not compete. Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley head to the ring but are attacked by Omega. It was an obvious plan by Omega and Callis. The match begins with Eddie Kingston being double-teamed by Michael Nakazawa and Kenny Omega. Jon Moxley finally is in the ring, and he hits Omega with a sidewalk slam right away. Moxley follows it up by hitting Nakazawa with a tope suicida. The four competitors are outside of the ring, with Moxley and Kingston in control. The order has been restored; however, Nakazawa hits Kingston with a low blow while the referee is being distracted by Omega.

Omega hits Kingston with a few nasty chops; this fires up Kingston, and he retaliates by throwing some of his own chops. Omega nails Kingston with an enzuigiri; however, Kingston hits Omega with a big falling clothesline. Moxley and Nakazawa are the legal competitors, but Nakazawa gets no offense in. Moxley nails Nakazawa with a German suplex and then follows it up with a piledriver. Kenny Omega has enough and walks out on his teammate; Moxley and Kingston finish it with a huge lariat.

After the match, The Good Brothers and Young Bucks come out and begin attacking Moxley and Kingston. All four men are beating down Kingston and Moxley men. The Young Bucks hit both men multiple superkicks; Omega comes back out to hit the One-Winged Angel on Eddie Kingston. Matt Jackson counts the three count obnoxiously.

Winners: Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley

- They announce Shida vs. Dr. Britt Baker DMD for the AEW Women's Championship at the Double or Nothing PPV on May 29th.

QT Marshall vs. Cody Rhodes

The match begins when Cody Rhodes enters the ring with QT Marshall already in the ring; Rhodes gets a few strikes in and hits Marshall with a vertical suplex. Rhodes takes his weight belt off, but the referee won't let him use it; however, Marshall grabs his weight belt and hits Rhodes with it. The referee then throws it out; Marshall now gets a few strikes in. Rhodes rakes the eyes of Marshall and then nails him with a backbreaker, but it does not do much as Marshall grabs Rhodes and hits him with a German suplex. The action goes outside the ring; QT gets in the face of Arn Anderson and pushes him; however, Anderson throws a punch and then grabs Marshall by the back of his head and grinds it into the ring post. Anderson is ordered to leave ringside.

They head out for the first picture-in-picture commercial break with QT in control. He is basically controlling the action throughout the ring. Marshall then slingshots Rhodes into the bottom rope; now both men exchange strikes multiple times, and it is going back and forth. Rhodes grabs the tights and pulls them down a little, and then hits him with a DDT. Rhodes then goes up top and hits a moonsault. Rhodes and Marshall are both backup, and Marshall hits the Cross Rhodes out of nowhere; he goes for the pin, but Rhodes kicks out.

Marshall calls for the stunner, but he never gets it; both men exchange holds, and Rhodes reverses Marshall's piledriver into a Tombstone Piledriver. Rhodes hits the Cross Rhodes and then goes for the pin, but Marshall kicks out. Cody now has Marshall in figure four, and this gets Marshall to tap out. After the match, Anthony Ogogo comes out and hits him with a powerful gut shot.

Winner: Cody Rhodes

- They go to a promo with Scorpio Sky with Ethan Page; Sky cuts a promo and tells Sting that his time is up, and he calls Sting a "Bitch". Ethan now is talking, and he talks about how he put a dent in Allin's forehead from a past match that the two had. Darby Allin is out and attacks both men out of nowhere. Sky and Page take over and have control over Allin. Sky throws a trash can at Allin to stop his momentum. Sky then throws Allin down about 13-15 concrete steps. They now head to another picture-in-picture commercial with the camera staying on medical staff checking in on Allin.

Dr. Britt Baker (w/ Rebel) vs. Julia Hart

The match begins with Britt Baker taking complete control of the match. Baker hits the Air Raid drop almost immediately and then puts the Lockjaw on, and Hart taps out.

Winner: Dr. Britt Baker (w/ Rebel)

4-Way Tag Team Eliminator Match
The Varsity Blondes vs. Jurassic Express (w/ Marko Stunt) vs. SCU vs. The Acclaimed

The match begins with Frankie Kazarian and Jungle Boy in a tie-up; they both reverse holds, and both get in a few pin attempts, but each one kicks out with ease. Frankie Kazarian gets tagged out by Brian Pillman Jr., and Kazarian is not happy about it and turns around and punches Pillman. This gets everyone involved in the match for a short time. They head out to a picture-in-picture commercial with Pillman and Anthony Bowens in the ring battling it out.

They are back with Christopher Daniels and Max Caster in the ring; Caster hits Daniels with a suplex. Bowens and Caster exchange tags multiple times until Daniels gets blind-tagged by Luchasaurus, and Luchasaurus takes out both members of The Acclaimed. Luchasaurus hits both of The Varsity Blondes with chokeslams; Luchasaurus then throws Kazarian right over the top rope. Pillman now tags in and hits Jungle Boy with a springboard clothesline. Pillman goes for the pin but kicks out at two; Luchasaurus gets hit with a flat liner outside the ring. Brian Pillman goes for the roll-up pin; however, Kazarian kicks out at two. SCU hits the Best Meltzer Ever to get a big victory and will face The Young Bucks on next week's Dynamite.

Winners: SCU

- We get a Jon Moxley and Yuji Nagata promo for their match next week.

- Tony Schiavone is out at ringside and introduces Kenny Omega; to announce who Omega will be facing at Double or Nothing. They announce that next week Orange Cassidy will face PAC in an eliminator match, and the winner will face Kenny Omega at Double or Nothing. Orange Cassidy comes out, and Omega cannot believe Cassidy could be his opponent at Double or Nothing. Omega tells Orange Cassidy that he will never take away his AEW title, but he did waste his valuable time.

- Miro comes out to cut a promo; Miro has a contract that says next week he will be facing Darby Allin for the TNT Championship match.

- They go over next week's Dynamite card, and they show the matches currently set are SCU vs. The Young Bucks, Orange Cassidy vs. PAC, Jon Moxley vs. Yugi Nagata, Miro vs. Darby Allin, plus Jade Cargill interview, and Cody Rhodes will have his announcement for Double or Nothing Pay-Per-View.

Blood and Guts Match
The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana, and Ortiz) vs. The Pinnacle (MJF, Wardlow, Shawn Spears, Cash Wheeler, and Dax Harwood) (w/ Tully Blanchard)

The match begins with Sammy Guevara going against Dax Harwood; Sammy dives over the rope from one ring to the other and takes down Harwood. Guevara is in control until Dax nails him with a huge spinebuster. Sammy delivers some strong chops to the chest of Harwood. Sammy now slams Dax into the corner turnbuckle multiple times. Sammy and Dax are standing on the ropes, and Harwood falls awkwardly. Sammy now throws Dax into the chainlink fence multiple times. Dax is busted open; Sammy hits Dax with a springboard stunner.

Shawn Spears is now in the match, and he delivers a huge spinebuster to Guevara; Spears has a chair, and Ortiz is now in the match, and he is has a chair. He throws the chair right at Spears and then Dax; Sammy Guevara hits a Spanish fly on Spears. Cash Wheeler is now the third man in, and he goes right after Guevara. Guevara is busted open, and all three men of The Pinnacle are constantly throwing Guevara into the chainlink fence. Spears has Guevara in the sharpshooter; Ortiz gets dropped hard into the steel also.

Santana comes in and takes out Spears and both members of FTR. They go to the first picture-in-picture commercial break with the control of the match going back and forth. During the commercial break, Wardlow enters the match. Now, Jake Hager is in, and he takes out FTR and Shawn Spears. Hager delivers multiple stiff shots, and then he puts Dax in an ankle lock, but he lets Spears go when Wardlow challenges him. Wardlow delivers some body shots. MJF is now the last man in for The Pinnacle, and he gets in attacking Ortiz. Jake Hager is challenging MJF; however, Wardlow takes Wardlow out at the knees. Cash Wheeler is now busted open big time too.

Jericho is now in, and the bell officially rings, and it starts. Each team takes a break, and they all charge in to meet in the middle. Jericho has a bat, and he hits Dax Harwood with a hit, and now he starts attacking Spears by grabbing Spears and pushing him face-first into the part of the cage. They come back from a commercial, and part of the ring is all tore up. Santana and Escobar hit FTR with piledrivers because of an assist by Guevara. Guevara goes coast-to-coast on the turnbuckle and kicks Spears right in the face.

Jericho has a turnbuckle in his hand, and he takes out MJF with it. MJF is now busted open. Jericho is choking Wardlow with the baseball bat. Santana is grinding Cash Wheeler's face into the fence. The Inner Circle is completely controlling the match. Wardlow returns and gets some offense in and throws Guevara about eight to ten feet in the air. Wardlow is now getting beaten down by all five members of The Inner Circle. He gets hit with multiple chair shots by Santana, Ortiz, and Guevara.

They head to their final picture-in-picture commercial with The Inner Circle; Tully unlocks the door during the commercial, and MJF climbs up to the top of the cage. Jericho takes down Tully with a punch, and he begins climbing up the cage, now going after MJF. Jericho makes it to the top of the cage, and Jericho has MJF in the Walls of Jericho. MJF gets out of it by hitting Jericho with a low blow. MJF has Jericho in the Fujiwara Armbar, but Jericho does not tap. MJF hits Jericho with his ring, and he tells The Inner Circle if they don't forfeit, he will push Jericho off the top of the steel cage.

The Inner Circle does forfeit, and The Pinnacle gets the win. MJF messes around and ends up throwing Jericho off the top of the cage anyways. The medical team comes out to check on Jericho, and MJF stands on the top of the cage celebrating his big win. The show goes off the air, with MJF standing tall after getting the big win.
