IMPACT Wrestling Results for 5/5/20 The North & Willie Mack Retain Their Gold

WWE SmackDown Preview, Start Time, How To Watch (12/27): Final WWE SmackDown Of 2024

- We open tonight's show with a recap of last week's show in which Moose managed to defeat both Michael Elgin and Hernández in the main event. We next open in the arena with Sami Callihan who comes out to the ring and addresses his turning on his former OvE brethren. Sami says that he sees everything and that he had the fight of his life against Ken Shamrock. Sami says that it's going to take a lot more to keep him down and that he went toe to toe with The World's Most Dangerous Man. Sami says that he will never let anyone help him again and he doesn't need help from the referee or OvE before saying that he has unfinished business with Ken Shamrock.

Ken comes out onto the stage and tells Sami that he needs to calm down because he has something to say to him. Ken gets into the ring and says that he's one tough S.O.B. after listing off the big names he's made tap out when Sami didn't including The Big Show and Bas Rutten and The Rock. Ken says that they have two options, go back outside and settle things or change focus to the IMPACT World Championship. Ken then asks Sami to shake his hand and put things behind them before they're interrupted by Michael Elgin. Michael says that he is the one and only rightful IMPACT World champion and tells Sami that he doesn't need tricks and advantages to win.

Michael says that he can do things that many men cannot do and that he is the rightful number one contender. Ken challenges Michael before Michael tells them that the line starts behind him before Sami calls into question his ego. Michael drops Sami with a forearm before Ken hip tosses him and escapes when Sami goes for a piledriver before Sami takes out his phone and disappears. We then go backstage to a promo by Chris Bey who is the new number one contender for the X-Division championship who says that he's going to finesse his way to the title as we go to commercial.

- We come back to a promo by the X-Division champion Willie Mack who says that he didn't expect someone to come after his title so quick and that Chris Bey has finessed himself into a problem. We next go to a rundown of tonight's matches and segments, headlined by a tag team title match in our main event.

OvE (Jake Crist & Madman Fulton) w/Dave Crist vs XXXL

Fulton and Larry get things started by locking up several times for a stalemate before they run the ropes and run into each other before Fulton drops Larry with a shoulder block. Larry hits a delayed scoop slam and tags in Acey who hits a running senton and Jake gets the tag. Acey drops Jake several times and XXXL drop him with a double back elbow. Larry hits a scoop slam into a leg drop for two before locking in a rear chin lock, Jake getting to his feet before Larry hits a back drop for two. Dave then saves Jake from being double teamed by dragging him out of the ring as we go to commercial.

We get a recap of the action during the break where OvE took control and Fulton now in control, having Acey isolated in the corner before cheap shotting Larry. Fulton hits a sliding cross body to Acey against the ropes before OvE start chaining together offense and tags. Acey hits a back drop and a spinebuster before crawling to the corner and tagging in Larry. Larry clotheslines Fulton and suplexes him before hitting a running splash for two, Jake coming in and rocking Larry with a roundhouse kick. Larry sends Jake over the top rope and hits a suicide dive before tossing him back into the ring and climbing to the top. OvE hit a top rope powerbomb, neckbreaker combo for a near fall that Acey breaks up before Larry knocks Jake out with a right hand for the pin and the win.
Winner: XXXL defeat OvE via pinfall.

-After the match we go to this week's IMPACT+Flashback Moment of the Week before we go to tonight's edition of Madison Rayne's Locker Room Talk featuring Johnny Swinger as her co-host and Havok as her guest as we go to commercial.

- We come back to a promo by The Deaners at their farm before we go to the IMPACT Zone for our next match between Johnny Swinger and Suicide.

Johnny Swinger vs Suicide

Johnny attacks Suicide when the referee is busy with him, having him check Suicide for weapons before he tries to rake his back and his eyes, but it's not effective since both are covered. Suicide sends Johnny out of the ring before hitting a slingshot cross body and tossing him back into the ring. Back in the ring Johnny drops Suicide with a closed right hand before choking him against the mat and missing a falling headbutt to the groin. Suicide comes back with a flurry of strikes before turning Johnny end over end and Johnny punches Suicide in the face. Suicide then hits a code breaker before hitting a swanton bomb for the pin and the win.

Winner: Suicide defeats Johnny Swinger via pinfall.

- After the match we go to a stairwell where the former X-Division champion Ace Austin cuts a promo about Chris Bey already getting a shot at Willie Mack's X-Division championship. Ace says that the XXX division will continue even if he has to pin the new guy to do it before leaving as we go to commercial.

- We come back to a sit-down interview with Moose where he talks about Rebellion and the TNA championship, Moose saying that he is the TNA champion before listing off former TNA World champions that he's defeated. Josh says that the TNA championship is defunct and was locked up in a warehouse, but Moose will not reveal how he got a hold of it. Josh asks Moose about the IMPACT World Championship Number One Contender Tournament before Moose says that he is pulling out of the tournament because he only cares about the TNA title. We then go back to the arena for our next match between Joey Ryan and Cousin Jake in a rematch from Rebellion.

Cousin Jake vs Joey Ryan

Joey takes his time getting into the ring, playing mind games before he capitalizes on Jake's aggression before Jake runs him over when he runs the ropes. Joey rolls out of the ring and catches his breath before he snaps Jake's arm in the ropes and Jake drops him with a right hand. Jake hits several wrist lock lariats before Joey dropkicks him and plays to the invisible crowd before Jake chokes and throws Joey across the ring. Jake whips Joey across the ring before Joey rolls back out and Jake goes after him before hitting him with forearms. Joey sends Jake face first into the post before they get back into the ring and Joey hits a side Russian leg sweep into a knee drop for two.

Joey rocks Jake with right hands and hits a scoop slam for two before locking in a chin bar and Jake comes back with a scoop slam. Jake drops Joey several times before hitting a clothesline and a dead lift sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. Jake clotheslines Joey over the top rope before he rushes back in and Joey superkicks Jake when he runs the ropes for a near fall. Jake counters a suplex attempt into a release suplex of his own before Joey pulls the referee in the way and pokes Jake in the eyes. Joey then rolls Jake up while holding the tights for the pin and the win.

Winner: Joey Ryan defeats Cousin Jake via pinfall.

- After the match we get a graphic for the tag title match between The North and an unknown team.

- We come back to a video package for Kiera Hogan narrated by her where she talks about her career and begins in Atlanta, Georgia. We then go to the ring as The North come out before Ethan attacks several crash test dummies and Josh knocks one over when he tries to give it a high five. Ethan falls getting back into the ring before The North introduce their challengers for their title, two nameless Canadians called The Creeps. We then get highlights of the match in which The North are in control the entire time before retaining their titles without breaking a sweat. We then go to Rosemary using tarot cards as we go back to commercial.

- We come back to a promo by Desi Hit Squad's Rohit Raju who says that he will win the tournament and become the IMPACT World champion. We next go to a graphic for two of next week's matches in two first round matches in the number one contender tournament between Madman Fulton and Hernández, and Rohit Raju and Trey, Havok versus the debuting Kimber Lee and Moose versus Suicide. We then go back to the arena to our main event with the X-Division Championship on the line.

X-Division Championship Triple Threat Match

Willie Mack (c) vs Ace Austin vs Chris Bey

Ace grabs the belt from the referee and tries to hit Willie before the match starts before Willie hits a hurricanrana and a double clothesline as we go to commercial.

We come back to Willie hitting a double Samoan drop into a double standing moonsault before Ace and Chris roll out of the ring and get into a shoving contest. Ace teases a partnership with Chris before sending him into the post before getting back into the ring and drops Willie before locking in a Fujiwara armbar. Ace gives Willie a paper cut with a playing card before Chris drags Ace out of the ring and sends him into the post. Back in the ring Chris goes for a suicide dive, but Willie catches him with a forearm and Chris drops Willie with a jumping enzuigiri. Chris hits a hurricanrana and runs the ropes before Ace drags him out of the ring and Willie hits a flipping senton and takes out both Bey and Austin as we go to commercial.

We come back Willie chopping Ace in the corner before Chris drops him with a missile dropkick and Ace hits a snap suplex for two. Ace elbows Chris on the mat before kicking Willie from ringside and Chris chokes Ace in the ropes before flexing to the camera. Ace rolls Chris up for two before knocking Willie off of the apron and sends Chris face first into the top turnbuckle before kicking him in the spine. Ace slams Chris before hitting a diving leg drop for two before they drop each other with a roundhouse kick. Willie gets back into the ring and all three men exchange until Ace hits running moves in opposite corners.

Willie drops Ace with a forearm before hitting running clotheslines in opposite before hitting Ace with an inverted cannonball. Willie hits Chris with an exploder suplex before Ace hits Willie with an enzuigiri when he's up top before Willie and Chris hit Ace with a combination powerbomb back stabber. Willie hits Chris with a stunner before Ace hits Willie with a frankensteiner and The Fold for a near fall that Chris breaks up. Ace shoves Willie out of the ring before hitting Chris with The Fold for a near fall that Willie breaks up. Ace then rocks Willie with a spin kick before setting the champion up on the top turnbuckle and Willie counters a frankensteiner into the Six Star Frog Splash for the pin and the win.

Winner: Willie Mack retains his X-Division championship by defeating Ace Austin and Chris Bey via pinfall.
