NJPW New Japan Cup ’20 Opening Round Match
Yoh vs. Bushi

The match begins with Yoh backing Bushi into the ropes before attacking him with a chop, Bushi fires back and a striking exchange breaks out. Bushi sends a charging Yoh out of the ring, Yoh returns and he knocks Bushi out of the ring with a hurricarana. Yoh follows up by taking Bushi out with a dive, Yoh gets Bushi back in the ring before landing a suplex for a near fall. Bushi leaves the ring again and Yoh follows him out there, Bushi gains control by throwing Yoh into the barricade a few times. Bushi then nails Yoh with a neck breaker on top of the barricade, Bushi waits for Yoh to return to the ring before ripping away at his face. Yoh tries fighting back and Bushi attacks him with more strikes, Bushi then nails Yoh with a neck breaker for a near fall. Bushi sends Yoh to the corner before attacking him with more strikes, Yoh fights back and he drops Bushi with a handspring elbow strike. Yoh follows up by nailing Bushi with a series of forearm strikes and a missile drop kick for a near fall, Bushi recovers and he catches Yoh in a roll up for a near fall. Yoh fights back to hit Bushi with a dragon screw leg whip, Yoh then applies a figure four leg lock to Bushi and Bushi eventually gets to the ropes. Yoh follows up by nailing Bushi with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall, Yoh gets Bushi on the top rope and he follows him up there.

Yoh gets Bushi off the ropes before leaping off himself, Bushi then hits Yoh with a drop kick before landing a rope assisted DDT on the ring apron. Bushi follows up with a spinning fisherman buster neck breaker on Yoh for a near fall, Bushi goes for MX and Yoh avoids it to land a pair of German suplexes for a near fall. Bushi fights back and Yoh levels him with a thrust kick to the face, Bushi and Yoh get into another striking exchange in the middle of the ring. Bushi ends the exchange by nailing Yoh with a lung blower for a near fall, Yoh fights back and he nails Bushi with a flat liner for a near fall. Yoh catches Bushi in a modified single leg crab, Bushi gets free and he nails Yoh with an enziguri followed by a code breaker. Bushi then hits Yoh with a modified TKO and MX for a three count.

Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Yoshi-Hashi

The match begins with Yoshi-Hashi getting Tenzan against the ropes before attacking him with some strikes, Yoshi-Hashi then gets Tenzan in a headlock. Tenzan gets free and he drops a charging Yoshi-Hashi with a shoulder tackle, Tenzan follows up by hitting Yoshi-Hashi with a headbutt and Mongolian chops. Yoshi-Hashi recovers to trip Tenzan up and drag him out of the ring, Yoshi-Hashi then throws Tenzan into the barricade a few times. Yoshi-Hashi and Tenzan get into a striking exchange on the arena floor, Yoshi-Hashi ends the exchange by attacking the knee of Tenzan. Both competitors get back in the ring and Yoshi-Hashi attacks Tenzan with more strikes, Yoshi-Hashi gets Tenzan down again and he applies the chin lock to him. Tenzan eventually gets to the ropes to break the hold, Yoshi-Hashi then hangs Tenzan on the top rope before landing a drop kick for a near fall. Yoshi-Hashi goes for a headbutt next and Tenzan defends before landing his own, Yoshi-Hashi recovers and he hits Tenzan with a shoulder tackle for a near fall. Tenzan fights back and he nails Yoshi-Hashi with a spin kick to the head, Tenzan follows up by attacking Yoshi-Hashi with a plethora of strikes. Tenzan then hits Yoshi-Hashi with a suplex for a near fall, Tenzan looks for a uranage and Yoshi-Hashi defends before landing a Headhunter.

Yoshi-Hashi then nails a cornered Tenzan with a running chop and some follow up strikes, Yoshi-Hashi follows up by nailing Tenzan with a super kick and meteora for a near fall. Yoshi-Hashi goes to the top rope and Tenzan nails him with a few strikes before meeting him up there, Yoshi-Hashi gets free and he nails Tenzan with a sit out power bomb for a near fall. Yoshi-Hashi looks for a fisherman suplex and Tenzan defends before landing a headbutt, Tenzan then hits Yoshi-Hashi with a spear and falling headbutt for a near fall. Tenzan keeps Yoshi-Hashi down while applying the STF to him, Tenzan releases the hold before missing a moonsault attempt. Yoshi-Hashi then goes for a swanton bomb and Tenzan gets out of the way, Yoshi-Hashi and Tenzan get into a striking exchange in the middle of the ring. Yoshi-Hashi ends the exchange by dropping Tenzan with a clothesline. Yoshi-Hashi follows up by hitting Tenzan with a blockbuster for a near fall, Yoshi-Hashi catches Tenzan in the butterfly lock and Tenzan powers his way to freedom. Tenzan fights back and he nails a charging Yoshi-Hashi with a back body drop, Tenzan then gets Yoshi-Hashi in the anaconda vice. Tenzan releases the hold to hit Yoshi-Hashi with a uranage for a near fall, Tenzan reapplies the anaconda vice and Yoshi-Hashi gets free with a roll up counter. Yoshi-Hashi catches Tenzan in the butterfly lock again and a tap out follows.

Winner: Yoshi-Hashi

Chaos (Kazuchika Okada, Sho, Toru Yano & Tomohiro Ishii) vs. Los Ingobernables (Tetsuya Naito, Sanada, Hiromu Takahashi & Shingo Takagi)

The match begins with the referee discovering that Yano was hiding a water bottle in his pants, Yano pulls out razor and he chases Takahashi around the ring while holding it. Sho and Sanada are tagged in by their respective partners, Sanada works over the arm of Sho until Sho gets him in a headlock. Sanada gets free and Sho gets him to the ground, Sho goes for an arm bar and Sanada gets free before applying a bow & arrow stretch for a short time. Sho attacks the knee of Sanada before landing a basement drop kick, Sanada misses a springboard move and Sho lands a clothesline afterwards. Takagi distracts Sho so Sanada can gain control, Takagi tags in and he traps Sho in the ropes while landing a plethora of strikes. Sho recovers and he drops Takagi with a suplex, Ishii tags in and he exchanges multiple shoulder tackles with Takagi. Ishii and Takagi have a striking exchange in the middle of the ring, Ishii lands a power slam on Takagi to end the exchange. Ishii then traps Takagi in the corner before landing a ton of strikes, Takagi fights back and does the same to Ishii. Takagi and Ishii have another exchange until Takagi drops him with a clothesline, Naito and Okada are tagged into the match. Naito drops Okada before landing a basement drop kick to his back. Naito follows up by nailing Okada with a neck breaker, Naito keeps Okada down while applying the leg assisted full nelson.

Yano breaks the submission up and Okada traps Naito on the top rope afterwards, Okada gets Naito off the ropes before landing a modified neck breaker. Okada looks for a tombstone pile driver and Naito gets free to land a spine buster, Takahashi tags in and Okada quickly nails him with a flapjack. Yano tags in and he removes a turnbuckle pad, Takahashi nearly runs into the exposed corner before nailing Yano with a super kick. Yano chases Takahashi around and Takahashi nearly nails him with a sunset bomb, Yano gets the shaver and he tries attacking Takahashi with it. A brawl breaks out between both teams and it spills all over the arena, Yano chases Takahashi into the lobby of the arena before landing a slam. Yano tapes Takahashi’s legs together as both teams wind up getting counted out.

Hirooki Goto vs. Yujiro Takahashi

The match begins with Takahashi and Goto working over each other’s arms, Takahashi and Goto then exchange some shoulder tackles until Goto lands a suplex for a near fall. Takahashi leaves the ring and Goto goes after Takahashi, Goto eats a few strikes before sending Takahashi into the barricade. Takahashi recovers and he nails Goto with a reverse DDT on the arena floor, Goto gets back in the ring and Takahashi attacks him with a few strikes. Takahashi keeps Goto down while landing a leg drop and elbow drop for a near fall, Takahashi keeps Goto down still while applying a chin lock to him. Takahashi releases the hold and he hits Goto with a basement drop kick for a near fall, Takahashi dumps Goto to the arena floor and Jado interferes to throw Goto into the barricade. Goto gets back in the ring and Takahashi gets a near fall on a pin attempt, Takahashi traps Goto in the corner while landing a few strikes. Takahashi then nails a cornered Goto with a running boot to the face, Takahashi then hits Goto with The Stroke for a near fall. Goto fights back and Takahashi kicks him right in the face, Takahashi and Goto exchange some strikes until Goto drops Takahashi with a discus clothesline. Goto follows up by nailing Takahashi with a spinning head kick and back drop suplex for a near fall, Goto goes for the ushigoroshi and Takahashi rakes his eyes.

Goto recovers and he manages to drop Takahashi with a clothesline, Goto goes to the top rope and Takahashi meets him up there. Takahashi then hits Goto with a super fisherman buster suplex for a near fall, Goto fights back again and he exchanges clotheslines with Takahashi. Goto ends the exchange after nailing Takahashi with a ushigoroshi, Takahashi and Goto have another striking exchange in the middle of the ring. Takahashi ends the exchange by biting the hand of Goto and landing a running boot to the face, Goto recovers and he nails Takahashi with a rope assisted GTR for a near fall. Goto looks for another GTR and Takahashi grabs the ref to prevent it, Jado hits Goto with a kendo stick and Takahashi lands a clothesline afterwards. Takahashi nails Goto with a modified Olympic Slam for a near fall, Takahashi goes for Pimp Juice and Goto avoids it before eating a kick to the face. Takahashi follows up by attacking Goto with a thrust kick, Takahashi goes for Pimp Juice again and Goto defends against it before getting his eyes raked. Takahashi grabs his pimp cane and Goto avoids getting hit by it, Goto then throws Takahashi into the interfering Jado before landing a GTR for a three count.

Satoshi Kojima vs. Evil

The match begins with Evil getting Kojima in a headlock, Kojima gets free and Evil drops him with a shoulder tackle. Kojima fights back and he gets Evil in a headlock, Evil gets free and Kojima drops him with a shoulder tackle. Evil leaves the ring and Kojima misses a dive attempt on him, Evil gets Kojima up and he throws him into the barricade. Kojima then eats a chair shot from Evil, Evil wraps a chair around the arm of Kojima before sending him into the ring post. Kojima gets back in the ring and he attacks Evil with a few chops, Evil fights back and he attacks the injured arm of Kojima. Evil keeps Kojima down while stomping away on his injured arm, Evil also traps the arm of Kojima in the ropes while wrenching away on it. Kojima tries fighting back again and Evil drops him before landing a senton for a near fall, Evil stands Kojima up while pulling back on both arms. Kojima fights back and he drops Evil with a DDT, Kojima avoids a charging Evil before landing some chops in the corner. Kojima keeps Evil trapped in the corner before landing machinegun chops, Kojima looks to go to the top rope and Evil prevents him from doing so. Kojima and Evil battle to the ring apron and Kojima drops Evil with another DDT that sends both crashing to the arena floor, Kojima gets Evil in the ring before landing a top rope elbow drop for a near fall.

Evil fights back and he uses a ref distraction to drop Kojima with a thrust kick, Evil then hits Kojima with a bronco buster for a near fall. Evil keeps Kojima down while applying the Fujiwara arm bar to him, Kojima eventually gets to the ropes to break the hold. Kojima fights back again and he nails Evil with a Koji Cutter, Kojima gets Evil on the top rope and he follows him up there before landing a super Koji Cutter for a near fall. Evil recovers and he nails Kojima with a fisherman buster suplex, Evil attacks Kojima with some clotheslines and Kojima fires back with some of his own. Kojima sets up for a lariat and Evil drops him with a clothesline for a near fall, Evil follows up by hitting Kojima with Darkness Falls for a near fall. Kojima fights back and he cracks a charging Evil with a clothesline for a near fall. Kojima follows up by landing a brain buster on Evil for a near fall, Kojima looks for a lariat and Evil uses a ref distraction to hit Kojima with a one man Magic Killer. Evil follows up by nailing Kojima with a corner clothesline, Evil gets Kojima to the top rope and he follows him up there to land a superplex for a near fall. Evil sets up for a lariat and Kojima counters with one of his own for a near fall, Kojima goes for the Kozy Lariat and Evil avoids it to land Everything Is Evil for a three count.
