This is the Fightful.com live coverage for tonight's episode of WWE NXT! Tonight we have a great show as in our main event Shayna Baszler defends her NXT Women's Championship against Dakota Kai, EC3 is in action, NXT champion Aleister Black is on the show and much more so be sure to come back here at 8pm EST for an hour showcasing the WWE NXT brand!
-We open the show with a video package for last week where Johnny Gargano accidentally ended up hurting his wife before Aleister Black comes out to address the NXT Universe. Black talks about winning the NXT championship was life altering and talks about everyone he's beaten before Lars Sullivan comes out to the ring and says that William Regal has made Lars Aleister's first title defense and it will be at NXT Takeover: Chicago. Lars then lays Aleister out with the Freak Accident when Aleister goes for the Black Mass, then holds up the title before dropping it across Aleister as we go to commercial.
War Raiders vs Local Talent
Rowe immediately drops the one in black when he rushes at him before Hanson tags in and hits a meteora before tossing him across the ring and beckoning his partner into the ring. The one in blue then comes in the ring and WR hit a series of running moves in the corner; Hanson with a clothesline and Rowe with a shotgun dropkick. WR then hit a clothesline into a German suplex combo before hitting their finisher Fallout for the pin and the win.
Winner: War Raiders defeat local talent via pinfall when they hit their finisher Fallout.
EC3 vs Fabian Aichner
They lock up to start the match before Aichner overpowers EC3 momentarily, then EC3 sends him to the outside before Johnny Gargano shows up and makes his street fight against Tommaso Ciampa official. Fabian then hits a diving cross body as EC3 is distracted before they get back in the ring and EC3 hits the TK3 for the pin and the win.
Winner: EC3 defeats Fabian Aichner via pinfall with the TK3.
-We get an extended video package for Bianca Belair before Ricochet comes out to the ring for bus match against the debuting Chris Dijak who formerly worked in Ring of Honor as Donovan Dijak.
Ricochet vs Chris Dijak
Chris immediately goes after Ricochet before Ricochet sends him out of the ring, then Chris catches Ricochet when he goes for a tope to the outside and chokeslams him onto the apron. Chris rolls Ricochet back into the ring for a quick two count before missing a moonsault, then Ricochet hits a 630 senton for the pin and the win.
Winner: Ricochet defeats Chris Dijak via pinfall with a 630 senton.
-After the match Ricochet calls out Velveteen Dream before they agree to a match at NXT Takeover: Chicago as Dream leaves as we go to commercial.
NXT Women's Championship Match
Shayna Baszler (c) vs Dakota Kai
Shayna repeatedly backs Dakota into the corner and overwhelms her with her superior strength all the while smiling before starting to focus on her left knee. Shayna drops Dakota with a series of kicks before twisting her ankle and stomping on it, then Kai slaps her before Shayna drops her with a knee and beats on her in mount. Shayna puts Kai in an ankle lock that she manages to get out of by crawling to the bottom rope for the break, only for Shayna to immediately apply it again. Kai manages to kick her way out of it before dropping Shayna with a series of kicks into a dropkick, then hits a variation of the helluva kick in the corner. Shayna then counters when Dakota is on her shoulders and locks in a rear naked choke for the tap and the win.
Winner: Shayna Baszler defends her NXT Women's Championship by defeating Dakota Kai via submission with a rear naked choke.
-After the match Shayna locks in the choke again before Nikki Cross comes out and runs Shayna off before she challenges Shayna to a title match as we go off the air.
