WWE SmackDown (8/11/2023) Results: The Bloodline Appear, Theory vs Escobar, Asuka, AJ Styles & More

On August 11, 2023, WWE hosted a new episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX. The show was headlined by Roman Reigns & Jimmy Uso appearing after the events of Tribal Combat, and Austin Theory defending his WWE United States Title against Santos Escobar.

Elsewhere on the card, AJ Styles faced Karrion Kross in a grudge match, plus more of the fallout from the August 5, 2023 edition of SummerSlam. Full results & highlights are listed below.

WWE SmackDown (8/11/2023).

  • Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka ended in a No-Contest.
    • Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai & WWE Women's Champion Iyo Sky) watched the match from the ramp.
      The match ended with Iyo Sky hitting a Shotgun Dropkick on both Charlotte Flair & Asuka ending the bout in a No-Contest. Bayley & Sky continued to beat down Asuka & Flair after the bout.
  • There was a video package of the events of the Tribal Combat from the August 5, 2023 edition of WWE SummerSlam, where Roman Reigns defeated Jey Uso with the help of Jimmy Uso. The fallout of the match is set to take place later in the night.
  • There was a "Progressive Match Flo" video package ahead of the United States Match between Austin Theory & Santos Escobar later in the night.
  • Kayla Braxton interviewed Santos Escobar backstage ahead of his match later tonight, with Escobar promising to win the title tonight. Austin Theory attacked Escobar backstage, catching him with a back suplex into the production boxes before slamming the lid onto Escobar's leg.
  • There was a video vignette of Karrion Kross ahead of his match against AJ Styles.
  • AJ Styles (w/ "Michin" Mia Yim) def. Karrion Kross (w/ Scarlett).
  • There was a video recap of the match between Cody Rhodes & Brock Lesnar from SummerSlam 2023.
  • Cathy Kelley was backstage trying to hear about an update about the condition of Santos Escobar, but Austin Theory appeared to make fun of Escobar. Rey Mysterio confronted Theory before trying to attack Theory, but was stopped by WWE Producer Kenny Dykstra.
  • Edge came to the ring for a surprise promo for the crowd and stated that he made the trip to Calgary, Ontario, Canada for the SmackDown Tapings. Edge stated that he was in Calgary to say that he wanted to challenge Sheamus to a first-time-ever match for the 25-year Anniversary because he stated that Sheamus was the reason he was back in Wrestling because he helped him to get back to the ring.
    The Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Butch & Ridge Holland) appeared to confront Edge. After a bit of banter between the two, Sheamus stated that Edge was the reason he was able to be in the business and was thankful for him. Sheamus & Edge agreed to a match next week and to have drinks after the match.
  • There was a video package of Hulk Hogan for his 70th Birthday.
  • LA Knight vs. Top Dolla (w/ Ashante Adonis & B-Fab of Hit Row).
    • LA Knight cut a promo after the match, with him saying the following: "It does not matter if you are AWESOME or if your name is Uncle Phil, everyone will know who's game is it with everybody saying "LA KNIGHT YEAH".
  • There was a vignette of Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) having a "celebration". Lashley stated that it was time for new blood to run SmackDown before he & the Profits had a toast.
  • Austin Theory attacked Santos Escobar on the ramp. Theory got in the ring and stated that the match was cancelled, but Adam Pearce responded by saying that Rey Mysterio would take Escobar's place for the match.
  • WWE United States Championship Match: Rey Mysterio def. Austin Theory (c)/ NEW CHAMPION!
  • The Bloodline (Paul Heyman, Solo Sikoa & Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns) came to the ring to cut a promo. Reigns immediately began the promo by asking Heyman where was Jimmy Uso, but Heyman said that he did not know. Jimmy Uso arrive to the arena from the crowd as he was greeted with boos from the crowd. Reigns asked Jimmy what he wanted in compensation, but Jimmy said that he did not want anything from Reigns.
    Reigns tried to sweet-talk Jimmy Uso, but that was until Jey Uso came to the ring. Jey confronted Jimmy and demanded a reason from Jimmy as to why he was attacked on SummerSlam. Jimmy said that he attacked Jey because he thought that he would lose Jey before saying that he & Jey had been manipulated by the asshole named "Roman Reigns".
    Jimmy left the ring after Jey refused to attack Jimmy. Reigns made fun of Jey and demanded he to acknowledge him, but Jey responded by hitting a Thrust Kick on Reigns. Reigns & Sikoa tried to lay out Jey, but Jey laid them out before hitting Reigns with a Spear. Jey then went to the outside and "tried" to hug Jimmy, but instead, he caught him with a Thrust Kick. After the attack, Jey said he was done and that he was leaving WWE to end the broadcast.
