"The Master of the 619" makes an special appearance.
Two weeks ago, former 5-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion Rey Mysterio suffered an injury working for the 'Northeast Wrestling' promotion. It would later be revealed that Mysterio had suffered a torn bicep injury that would prevent him from competing at NJPW's 'Strong Style Evolved' event against Jushin Thunder Liger.
Like many fans, Rey was disappointed that he would not get to add a sequel to the match that he and Liger had at 'Starrcade' in 96'. But Mysterio did make an appearance at 'Strong Style Evolved' as he came out to address the fans in Long Beach. Rey apologized to the fans for not being able to live up to the match that was promised, but he did make a strong claim that once he is ready he will be back in New Japan Pro Wrestling to compete for the company.
The current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay who was Mysterio's replacement in the bout against Liger, issued a challenge to Rey Mysterio and told Mysterio that when he can go, come and challenge for his championship. This would lead to Ospreay's long-time rival Marty Scurll to come out and attack Ospreay from behind. Scurll's attack would not last long as he was taken out by the defeated Jushin Thunder Liger.
We do have on-going live coverage of NJPW 'Strong Style Evolved'.Also, there will be a post-event podcast immediately after the show is over.
