Ric Flair: My Relationship With Tony Khan Is Great, I Think My Relationship With WWE Is Great

Ric Flair says he has good relationships with WWE and AEW.

Flair, a WWE Hall of Famer, left the company in 2021 when he requested his release so he could explore other projects. He later stated that Nick Khan, the WWE President at the time, had no respect, and he would never again work for the company. But when WWE added his signature "Woo" to the opening video for Raw and SmackDown, he passionately thanked the company by noting that it had given him his dignity and his life back.

Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, Flair brought up how he has been accused of kissing WWE's ass, and he emphasized how he's truly grateful for being back in the video. He also stated that he will continue to "kiss WWE's ass" because his daughter Charlotte works there, and he owes lot to the company.

“Somebody telling me, somebody with no social media, telling me my social media, said, 'Why are you kissing the WWE’s ass for putting you back up on the screen? I said, 'Because I’m thankful they did.' Who doesn’t want to be on the opening of RAW or SmackDown, or on the opening of every pay-per-view? What wrestler wouldn’t wanna be there? I will continue to kiss the WWE’s ass because Ashley works there and because they’ve given me a life I would never have had. So the WWE, I didn’t get mad at WWE. I wanted to pursue other interests. They were paying me a lot of money. I asked for my release, not to go anywhere else, not to do anything else," he said.

Flair continued by recalling how the same individual told him that he was burying Tony Khan. He responded by noting that he was simply saying that the card for the Ric Flair's Last Match event changed due to Khan's decisions regarding some of his contracted talent. He went on to describe how the AEW president sent him a nice text ahead of the pay-per-view, and he believes they have a great relationship. Likewise, he stated that he thinks he's on good terms with WWE.

"At the same time, the guy said to me, ‘You’re kinda like burying Tony Khan.’ I said how am I burying Tony Khan? Tony Khan’s a man. I’m allowed to say that the card changed as a result of decisions he makes as the owner of the company. By the way, I got the nicest text from Tony Khan in the world, congratulating me on explaining why he wasn’t there, so whoever’s worried about me, I’m not gonna mention his name, my relationship with Tony Khan is great. I think my relationship with WWE is great," he said.

Flair recently described how he passed out twice during his last match. You can check out his comments by clicking here.
