Ric Flair is set to wrestle his last match on July 31 when he teams with Andrade El Idolo to take on Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett.
Flair, who hasn't wrestled since 2011, has been training for months for the bout, but admitted on Busted Open Radio that he is dealing with a minor injury.
"I have plantar fasciitis in the bottom of my foot. Other than that, I am perfect. That damn thing is sore as shit. I'm at the doctor right now. They are gonna start injecting me with stuff," he said.
Asked if it would cause issues for the match, Flair replied, "I would just deaden it if I have to. You know me. It affects me daily. It's hard running the ropes with the center of your foot...the middle of your foot is so sensitive. I've been training hard, doing two-a-days."
Flair also commented that he's "happier it's a tag. I can hide myself a little more [laughs]."
Flair has been training with Lethal ahead of the bout, though he's "switched camps" now that he'll be facing Lethal in the match.
Asked if he felt that he owed the match to Lethal because he's helped him train, Flair said, "Absolutely. He's a great guy. This kind of stuff, if I can pull it off, will be re-writing everything in my legacy again. Little nagging things. I thought I had COVID, then I thought I had pneumonia. You're waking up every day thinking, 'What could go wrong?' Instead of being positive. That's partly getting older and having lack of confidence, which I've had over the years. We're going to have 9,000 people. I'm looking forward to it."
Flair will be teaming with his son-in-law Andrade in the match, which has led fans to wonder if Charlotte will be present at the event.
Flair said about Charlotte, "She'll be there, but I don't know if she'll be on camera. She wouldn't miss that. I don't think she would miss it, even if Andrade wasn't involved. She just might not be on camera. A lot of guys are coming. (Rey) Mysterio, Apollo, (Pat) McAfee, Kid Rock will be there."
Charlotte hasn't been on WWE television since losing to Ronda Rousey at WWE WrestleMania Backlash.
Ric Flair's Last Match will be held on July 31, one day after WWE SummerSlam. Fans can check out the current lineup for the show by clicking here.
