Ricky became the talk of WWE SmackDown after Friday when he was revealed as Kevin Owens tag team partner against A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller).
Though Ricky was stunned by Owens once Randy Orton showed up, the WWE Universe did not forget the name, "Ricky."
Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Ricky (Ricky Gibson of Midnight Heat) explained how the appearance came to be.
"Gabe Sapolsky reached out a couple weeks ago and said SmackDown and Raw were going to be in Seattle and Portland, it would be great if you could make it to Seattle for extra work. I just showed up. Like everyone does, you put on a suit, you go to catering, and you hope for the best. The difference was, I was walking around the hallways, and there is Kevin Owens walking around. He's walking around like he has no clue what he's doing. I go, 'Hey, what can do for you? Can I help you?' It was perfect. I'm a tag team guy. When he was like, 'I need a tag team partner.' It was easy for me to step up and be like, 'I'm your guy.'
"I saw him ask Booker (Booker T) and RVD (Rob Van Dam). I saw him ask a ton of different guys. Everyone is saying no. I'm your guy. Who else?"
Owens did apologize to Ricky for how he treated him on WWE SmackDown.
