Rikishi Wanted To See Cody Rhodes Turn On Roman Reigns At WWE Bad Blood

Rikishi says Cody Rhodes will let loose once he turns heel.

At WWE Bad Blood, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes teamed up with Roman Reigns to defeat Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa of The Bloodline. Jimmy Uso returned and helped Reigns score the win, and The Rock appeared after the match.

Speaking on his Off The Top podcast, Rikishi discussed the match and said he thought it would have been a great time for Rhodes to turn heel.

“I almost feel like, man, I would have thought, and this is just my weird mind, I’m always thinking, when people go left, I go right, during that time, it damn sure would have been nice if Cody turned on Roman. You got two big babyfaces, and Cody’s been that babyface since Roman’s been gone. Then to be able to come back together, you can almost…[Roman] puts out that aura, he puts out that vibe, you can almost feel coming through the TV how over this guy is. This was once a guy that people hated his guts, but as you can listen, man. You be got the champion, and you’ve got a guy that lost to the champion, making his [return], coming back to wrestle, and the building erupted. So I thought, man, it’s gonna happen right now. In my mind, I said, ‘This would be the perfect time for Cody to switch up.’ So now you switch up, you have Cody and Roman come back, and boom, Roman’s already a babyface now. Boom, the belt drops to Roman, boom here comes The Rock. Now we can continue on. Still got a lot of people in The Bloodline, they can either do a WarGames or whatever the case may be. But I think for me, because Cody is sharp-dressed. He’s a babyface, but he’s one of those guys that you can hate real quick. When you see him on TV, his promos, almost like arrogant. He’s a nice guy, but arrogant," Rikishi said.

Rikishi was also asked to share his thoughts on Cody Rhodes' run as a babyface, and he rated it a six out of ten. He said that Rhodes was trying hard to be the face of the company, and that was a lot of pressure. Rikishi also stated that he would be happy for Rhodes once he turned heel.

“The babyface run, one to ten, I think it’s six. He’s trying so hard…to be a babyface and to be a babyface champion of the company, that’s a lot of pressure. That’s a lot of work. You shake hands and kiss babies, all that stuff, and in the meantime, you got so much responsibility on your back as being the face of the company. You’re trying to be the best role model, I guess, or champion during the time. Again, Cody’s a great worker. But for me, I just feel like he can be a better heel. I feel that. He can be a hell of a heel. He’s that guy with the suave look, and he’s a white boy. Come on. He’s got the suits on. It’s almost like a Million Dollar Man type of vibe, a new era Million Dollar Man. But just that heatseeker type, like, ‘When I tell you to do something, do it. Here’s your tip right here.’ Throw them 50 cents or something. Because it’s so easy. When you look at, for me, so easy to hate him when you’re watching him. He does a lot of good stuff, but I think nowadays, to get heat, you gotta know how to move theatrical. You gotta know how to move emotional people to get them in that vibe when you’re controlling these people by even just a staredown. But yeah, Cody, I don’t think he’s comfortable being a babyface. I think he does everything fantastic in the ring, but it’s just something about that kid. The day he turns heel, I’m gonna be really happy for him because now he just gonna let loose on everybody," Rikishi said.
