The Rock looks back on returning to WWE and joining the TKO board.
In January 2024, TKO announced that they had appointed Dwayne "The Rock" Jonson to the Board of Directors. The Rock then returned to WWE on te February 2 episode of WWE SmackDown and was featured on WWE programming on the road to WrestleMania XL. At WrestleMania XL Night One, he and Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The Rock wrapped up his return run on the Raw after WrestleMania, but he made a brief appearance at WWE Bad Blood. He has been absent ever since.
The Rock appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote "Red One" and "Moana 2". WWE WrestleMania XL came up in the conversation, and The Rock reflected on his return to WWE.
“I had such a great time. Cody and Seth and Roman, it was just wild. I grew up in that world of pro wrestling. There’s nothing like when that music hits and the crowd goes crazy. [Fallon said it feels like The Rock is home when he’s performing]. That’s a good way to put it. I grew up in the world of pro wrestling, and I followed the careers of my grandfather and my dad. My grandfather and my dad used to wrestle up here at [Madison Square Garden] in the ‘70s, and here I come along, not trying to screw anything up with their legacy. Then all of a sudden, the business has grown into what it’s grown into. TKO now owns WWE, and I have the honor of sitting on the board of TKO. What a full-circle moment. It’s crazy. I started with seven bucks, and now… [Fallon said it’s not], now it’s not seven bucks [laughs]," The Rock said.
As of this writing, it is not known when The Rock will return to WWE programming.
