Roman Reigns discusses Seth Rollins' place in WWE.
For years, Roman Reigns has been the face of WWE. But with Reigns taking time off to battle leukemia from October 2018 to February 2019, Seth Rollins stepped up and became the top star in the company. Rollins, much like Reigns, has become a divisive figure among the WWE Universe with fans turning against the former Universal Champion following his WrestleMania 35 victory over Brock Lesnar.
Speaking to Corey Graves on After The Bell, Reigns discussed where Rollins sits in WWE.
"With Seth, he knows what to do in the business and in the ring. He knows how to carry himself and has all the intangibles. It's a matter of just riding it out," he said. "It's a situation of, sometimes it can be 'what have you done for me lately?' And you have to remember to go out there the next night and kill it. Just continue to go out there, bust your ass, and work hard. The cream always rises to the top. That's something John Cena told me a long time ago. 'Don't go out there and stink it up.' Go entertain the crowd and work hard for them. Our fans are very passionate and they can ride the fence from time to time but they have respect for what [wrestlers] do. When they know a guy is all in for them and willing to give everything, and Seth is one of those guys, they always come back. Seth is a pro wrestling guy and he's not going anywhere. Having a rollercoaster ride is not going to scare him away. You want to have them polarized. When [the fans] didn't like me, they were loud as hell. All those people on his side will be there and he just has to be the performer he is."
WWE edited Rollins' reaction on the most recent episode of Raw, which was taped from Manchester. WWE ended up piping in cheers when the live crowd reportedly booed his comments. Rollins is set to lead Team Raw at WWE Survivor Series. Meanwhile, Reigns will lead Team SmackDown.
