Ronda Rousey powered through the segment with glass in her leg.
For the first time in WWE history, last month on April 7th, women headlined WrestleMania. Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey competed to determine who was going to leave MetLife Stadium with both the RAW and SmackDown Women's Championships on top of having the bragging rights of being the first woman to pick up a win in the main event of WrestleMania. Becky Lynch left the stadium the victor and is currently still the holder of both titles.
UFC Hall Of Famer Ronda Rousey is taking a break from professional wrestling and is allowing her body to heal. She suffered a hand injury at WrestleMania 35 that required surgery and she stated during a video that is up on her YouTube channel that she does not know what is next for her in regards to a possible return to wrestling and did not make any promises. Ronda recently sat down with UFC's Megan Olivi for an exclusive interview and during their conversation, Ronda mentioned how she had been picking glass out of her leg which led to her telling the story of the segment involving herself, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair one week before WrestleMania as they were "arrested" after brawling around the arena.
“I’m healing up, I pulled two pieces of glass out of my leg the other day. On the lead up to WrestleMania, we had that backstage [segment] where we all were getting arrested and I was kicking out the thing. So they were like, ‘Okay, kick out the window, but don’t kick out the window too hard because we’re gonna bring out the gimmicked glass window, the sugar glass window’. I’m like, ‘Okay cool’. So I kick the window -- I guess I dented the frame, so they were like, ‘We can’t put in the sugar glass’ and I was like, ‘I’ll break the real fuc*ing window’ and they were like, ‘You don’t have to break the window’ and I was like, ‘I wanna break this window!’." She continued, "So I kick out this window and I’m like, ‘Yeah! I kicked out the window’ and I try kicking out the frame and my heel slipped and the glass went up the back of my leg and I pulled it in. That’s when you hear me go, ‘Don’t tell me how to live my life’ and I was sitting at home, pulling glass out and throwing it with my other hand and my cast and stuff and I was just like, ‘Wrestling’s fake’. I said it’s so fake but the reason why we can keep going while I’m like… by the end of the year I’m dragging myself to the finish line but, you know, it’s because we script everything that we can work around all these kind of things that in a fight would be the end of the world so, it’s stuff like this [her injured hand], I’m not bummed about it because you can work around everything. So it makes everything a lot less stressful in a way but it also forces me to endure more because I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s not that serious of a situation. I can do WrestleMania [with] fourteen stitches in my leg. It’s fine. Take them out after'.” Ronda detailed.
Becky Lynch will be defending her SmackDown Women's Title against Charlotte Flair at Money In The Bank and tomorrow on RAW, there will be a double contract signing for Becky's RAW and SmackDown Women's Title matches at the aforementioned pay-per-view.
