Roxanne Perez looks back on the 2023 Royal Rumble match.
At the 2023 Royal Rumble, the women's match featured several surprise entrants, with one of them being NXT's Roxanne Perez. While Perez would not win the match, she would have a brief but strong showing before being eliminated by Damage CTRL.
On Thursday, WWE released a video on their YouTube of multiple WWE superstars reacting the 2023 Women's Royal Rumble match. In the video, Roxanne Perez was paired with her mentor Booker T. Early on in the match, Booker would ask Roxanne what she was feeling backstage before she would make her entrance.
"Every single time the timer would start counting down I would get chills, just because it was like I know you always told me just to soak up the moment, take in the moment as much as you can. So that's what I was doing when I was back there, I was looking around, I was surrounded by women that inspired me as a kid watching this. It was really surreal, every single moment."
Upon her entrance in the matchup, Booker would ask Roxanne what her feelings were when she made her way to the ring for her Rumble debut.
"I was thinking I gotta take it all in. I went out there, I stood there for a few seconds. I'm gonna look at them, I'm gonna take this moment in. The adrenaline was crazy. That fire, when the crowd started coming with me, it is literally a moment I will never forget."
The 2023 Women's Rumble would eventually be won by Rhea Ripley, who would go onto WrestleMania 39 to defeat Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women's Championship.
Roxanne recently earned an NXT Women's Championship opportunity on latest edition of NXT. You can check out her immediate comments on the victory here.
