Samoa Joe is on the shelf, leaving a void at the top of the WWE Monday Night Raw card.
The injury couldn't have happened at a worse time for WWE, as John Cena and Brock Lesnar are both looking at time off moving forward. The former NXT Champion spoke to Sky Sports this week, and updated the world on his condition.
"The recovery's going really well but I've only been able to perform at about 80 percent capacity since joining NXT. Back then I had no chance to take time off because of the WWE opportunity, before I was just treating the knee problem with ice and elevation at home. Now it's the best I've ever felt, it really is. I also needed nasal surgery as I've broken my nose about eight times in my career so I was only breathing at around 60 percent. You have no idea how invigorating it is now."
Joe last competed on August 26, losing to John Cena on a house show. He appeared on the prior week's episode of WWE Raw, where he and the Miz dropped a tag team match to Cena and Roman Reigns. Prior, he had been competing in WWE Universal Championship matches.
