SANADA And Hikuleo Advance In A Block Of NJPW G1 Climax 33

A Block action wraps up.

SANADA and Hikuleo advanced in the A Block of the NJPW G1 Climax 33 tournament on August 5. SANADA, the reigning IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, topped the block with an undefeated record of 7-0 (14 points).

SANADA is the first man to go 7-0 in Block action since Kazuyuki Fujita in 2005. Shinsuke Nakamura went 6-0 in 2009.

Hikuleo finished block action with a 4-3 (8 points) record, defeating Shota Umino (2-3-2, 6 pts) in the main event of the August 5 show to secure his spot in second. Had Umino won the bout, he would have finished second in the block and advanced.

Hikuleo rattled off four straight wins after losing his first three matches in block action to SANADA, Gabe Kidd, and Chase Owens.

SANADA will face the second place finisher of C Block. Hikuleo will battle the winner of D Block.
