AEW Wanted To Use Lakers Colors In 2023 For Full Gear, But Clippers Didn't Want Them To

AEW Full Gear 2023’s graphics took a little bit of time to get into season shape, or something else that James Harden said once, I guess.

Originally, AEW Full Gear graphics featured yellow and gold theming, playing up the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers used to play there. However, by October things were switched up and we’ve found out why, as the company headed into AEW Revolution 2025 at the Cryrpo.com Arena, FKA the Staples Center.

Ownership of the LA Forum requested a change, as the LA Clippers owners actually bought the Forum several years ago. With the graphics representing the team’s rivals, they wanted a change. AEW ended up going back to the traditional Full Gear graphic style that has existed a few years before. For AEW Revolution this year, AEW was able to adopt the Lakers colors as they're emanating from where the Lakers play.

Tony Khan is a big fan of the Lakers, which is why the original color purple/gold scheme happened.

The Crypto.com Arena had previously been exclusive to WWE. However, when they ran the Intuit Dome for the Raw on Netflix premiere, AEW was able to book the home of the Lakers.
