Scott D'Amore Comments On Mickie James Competing In WWE Women's Royal Rumble

WWE and IMPACT are working together.

During Friday's WWE SmackDown, Charlotte Flair and WWE gave a partial list of entrants in the 2022 women's Royal Rumble.

WWE Files To Trademark 'RKO'

On the list was Mickie James, who was released by the company in April 2021. James was infamously sent a trash bag full of her belongings following her release. When discussing the incident, she said that Vince McMahon called to apologize for the incident.

James is also the reigning IMPACT Knockouts Champion, which was acknowledged by WWE announcer Pat McAfee and on social media by WWE.

Speaking to the IMPACT website, IMPACT Executive Vice-President Scott D'Amore commented on the deal between IMPACT and WWE by saying, “WWE wanted it, Mickie wanted it and IMPACT Wrestling’s philosophy is always to work with other major promotions to create buzz for the fans. Everything is signed and agreed with WWE and IMPACT Wrestling – the only question is whether or not Mickie will enter one of WWE’s most historic annual matches as the reigning Knockouts World Champion.”

James is set to defend the Knockouts Championship against Deonna Purrazzo at IMPACT Hard to Kill on Saturday.

James wasn't the only surprise return announced as it was also revealed that The Bella Twins (Nikki & Brie Bella), Lita, and more would be back for the women's Royal Rumble. You can view the full list by clicking here.
