Rollins and Nakamura will collide at WWE Payback.
The championship matchup was made official on the August 21 episode of WWE Raw, just minutes after a promo from Shinsuke Nakamura aired on the show.

The problems between Rollins and Nakamura first began on the August 7 episode of Raw when Nakamura blindsided Rollins when the two were competing alongside Cody Rhodes in a six man tag against the Judgment Day. A week later, Nakamura went on to declare that he wanted a shot at Rollins and the World Heavyweight Championship, which Rollins quickly agreed to.
Ironically, this will be Nakamura's first singles match at a premium live event since March 2021, where he faced 'The Visionary' at the Fastlane event. Rollins came out victorious in that match.
