While speaking to AEW’s Unrestricted podcast for a new interview, Taylor had high praise for Rowe, noting that he is an amazing person.

“Yes, I was trained by Ray Rowe and Jerry Myers. I actually wrestled Ray Rowe in high school, I was sick that day so he won. Not that he was an incredible wrestler and just won, but the fact that I was sick, pretty sure I was injured too. But no, Ray is one of the most amazing people that I’ve ever met, not just in this industry but simply in life. He is someone that if you have to go war, you pick him every single time without hesitation because he will tell you the things you need to know whether you like them or not. He will be honest, he will always be a man of his word and he will always have your back. He has helped me make better decisions than I would’ve made if he wasn’t there to guide me. I would’ve made and reacted to situations throughout my career much differently if he hadn’t been that voice of reason and kind of steered me to where I needed to go. So for me, coming from that amateur wrestling background but also having the boxing and striking, he has all of those things as well. So for him to be able to guide me and show me and teach me has helped me develop the style in which Shane Taylor performs today.”
