Shawn Michaels comments on William Regal's future in NXT.
William Regal returned to WWE TV on the January 23 episode of the show, naming Ava as the new general manager of NXT. Regal served as the general manager of NXT beginning in July 2014 until he was released by WWE in January 2022.
On the NXT Vengeance Day media call, Shawn Michaels was asked by Ella Jay of SEScoops about Regal's future on NXT television.
"He came down here recently to endorse our new GM Ava. She's already wielding pretty good power and doing a good job. As he mentioned to Ava, his phone is always open, he is there for her counsel in any way he can help. Here at NXT, when you have a staple and a foundational person like William Regal, you have to have more than just one shot with him here and there. I think everybody was extremely excited about his brief cameo on NXT television. I have no doubt we will have some other cameos by William Regal in the future as well," he said.
Regal was released by WWE in January 2022 and signed with AEW shortly after. Regal would remain with AEW though 2022, but requested his contract not be renewed so he could return to WWE to be with his son Charlie Dempsey. Regal's request was granted, but he could not appear on television in 2023. Regal worked behind the scenes as the Vice President of Global Talent Development.
