Shawn Michaels says Trick Williams doesn't want to be just another guy on the main roster.
Trick Williams has become the face of NXT in recent months, as he defeated Carmelo Hayes in the main event of NXT Stand & Deliver before he captured the NXT Championship by defeating Ilja Dragunov. Ethan Page won the gold in a four-way match at NXT Heatwave, and Williams is determined to get it back.
In an interview with Justin Barrasso for Sports Illustrated, Shawn Michaels discussed working with Trick Williams.
“Trick has an incredibly bright future. He’s amazing to work with on a day-to-day basis. He’s so receptive. He’s one of the hottest things in the business as a whole, but he’s still a humble kid working and digging to get better every day. I really respect that," Michaels said.
Michaels also highlighted Williams' potential call-up to the WWE main roster. He shared his belief that the former champion did not want to simply go to the main roster and be there. Michaels stated that he thought that Williams wanted to thrive as a major player.
“I read on social media that he’s already main-roster ready. I don’t think that’s the goal for Trick. He doesn’t want to just go and exist on the main roster–he wants to go there and thrive as a main player. I appreciate his maturity and wisdom. He’s a joy to come work with, and I’m excited to see what he does next," Michaels said.
