The WWE Performance Center is now home to former UFC Fighter Shayna Baszler.
Baszler came up short in her efforts to win the Mae Young Classic recently, losing to Kairi Sane. Baszler would defeat Zeda, Mia Yim, Mercedes Martinez and Candice LeRae along the way to get to the tournament finals. Shortly before the finals, Triple H welcomed both Sane and Baszler to WWE, and now the latter is making Orlando her home.
WWE announced the start of Baszler's training on Twitter.
The 37-year old Baszler is a member of the 'Four Horsewomen of MMA,' led by former UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey. Jessamyn Duke, another member, appeared on the Mae Young Classic finals supporting Baszler last month. and started her pro wrestling training this summer.. The remaining 'horsewoman' is Marina Shafir, who is engaged to Roderick Strong.
Duke and Rousey appeared at AIW Bloodsport last year, as Baszler captured the promotion's women's championship. Baszler competed for SHIMMER and STARDOM during her indy run and.trained under the likes of UFC Heavyweight Josh Barnett, and legendary catch wrestler Billy Robinson. She last competed in MMA in 2016 in a losing effort.
The former UFC fighter Baszler trained with several WWE superstars in the past, such as Natalya and Nikki Bella.
In August, Fightful.com exlcusively broke the news that Ronda Rousey -- a former UFC Bantamweight Champion -- was training for a run in pro wrestling with WWE Superstar Brian Kendrick. Duke has also been training, and participated in a Rocky Romero seminar.
