Shayna Baszler says her friends are up for a fight.
When Shayna Baszler made her way onto NXT, she was one of the finalist in the first Mae Young Classic. Her time in the tournament introduced WWE fans to Baszler and her three friends Ronda Rousey, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir. The four professional mixed-martial-artist had been going by the name "The Four Horsewomen" and during the Mae Young Classic WWE positioned them in a feud with the WWE version of the Four Horsewomen in Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, and Bayley.
Nearly a year later, Baszler has been reigning NXT Women's Champion and the other three MMA Horsewomen have been signed by WWE. Ronda Rousey has been scheduled to face Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam for the Raw Women's Championship while Duke and Shafir started at WWE developmental.
In an interview with Inside the Ropes, Baszler was asked about that feud bubbling back up to the surface.
"If they want it to happen, the four of us are fighters; we've never turned down any sort of fight. They want to argue about who's the four horsewomen and who owns it. We had it first and that's fact. It was given to us, we didn't just call ourselves that," said Baszler. "If they want to, we won't turn down a fight ever," she added.
In the rest of the interview, Baszler discussed her transition to professional wrestling and the catch wrestling influences of her in-ring style.
On Saturday, Baszler will be defending her NXT Women's Championship against the wrestler who beat her in the Mae Young Classic finals Kairi Sane. Fightful Wrestling will have live coverage, discussion, and a recapping podcast for NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4.
