Shinsuke Nakamura To Defend United States Title Against Rusev On SmackDown

Rusev will get another chance at gold this Tuesday on SmackDown.

The Bulgarian Brute may have come up short in his bid to capture the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at Hell in a Cell, but he'll get an opportunity to walk away with a singles strap on Tuesday. SmackDown General Manager Paige announced that Rusev will challenge Shinsuke Nakamura for the United States Title on Tuesday's edition of SmackDown.

Nakamura defended the United States title last Tuesday against Jeff Hardy. The match ended in a disqualification after Randy Orton interfered, allowing Nakamura to retain the title. Nakamura did not wrestle at Sunday's Hell in a Cell event. Rusev teamed with Aiden English at Hell in a Cell against the New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. Rusev and English were defeated in the bout

Rusev is a former two-time United States Champion. He last held the title in 2016.
