Asuka will get her second chance at the Smackdown Women's Championship.
During the Smackdown taping in London, Carmella threw herself a "Royal Mellabration" during which General Manager Paige came to the ring to inform the Champion she will be defending her title at Money in the Bank against Asuka.
Carmella has been champion since cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase which she held for almost a year on Charlotte Flair after Flair was attacked by Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. Carmella defended her championship at WWE Backlash against Flair as well.
Asuka has not had a singles match on WWE television since her loss at WrestleMania 34 to Charlotte Flair in a championship match. That was her first pin or submission loss in WWE or NXT.
The Money in the Bank pay-per-view will also feature a Raw Women's Championship match between Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey. AJ Styles is defending his WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura during the event.
Fightful Wrestling has the spoilers for the Smackdown taping and there will be live coverage and a recapping podcast for the regular broadcast. The same will be done for Money in the Bank.
