We're still a month away from NXT Takeover: Chicago, but at tonight's NXT TV tapings, several matches came into focus.
Bobby Roode will defend his NXT Championship against the recently returned Hideo Itami. This far, Itami has come up short in his efforts to capture the title, but has spent a substantial amount of time on the shelf with injuries.
Asuka is on a path to extend past Goldberg's storyline streak without being pinned or submitted, but she'll take on three different competitors at the Chicago show. The longtime champion will face Ember Moon, Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross in a fatal four way, after she ran in on a top contender's battle royal.
Also on the show, Authors of Pain will step a little out of their element. The Paul Ellering-led duo will defend their NXT Tag Team Championships against DIY in a ladder match.
